Who is behind SloStudy
Behind SloStudy is its founder, Lazar Đondrić, with five years of experience working with future and current students. As a student senator, advisor to the FDV Student Council and member of the Disciplinary Committee, he represented the student voice and took part in decisions that shape student life at the faculty.
As an international ambassador of the University of Ljubljana he was the main information channel for students from all over the world. He also worked in the Administrative Unit department responsible for verifying documentation for residence permits. That is why he knows the enrollment process from three perspectives: the student's, the faculty's and the state institution's.

“I was a high-school student just like you. With a big goal, but without the knowledge or the right person to show me the way. I walked it alone, but you don't have to!
I will guide you through this journey the way I wish someone had guided me.”

The questions we get asked most often

Yes. Studies at public faculties and higher vocational colleges in Slovenia are free for citizens of the former Yugoslav countries. You only pay a symbolic enrollment fee of 30 to 70 € per year, depending on the programme.
Yes. Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia have signed bilateral education agreements with Slovenia. Thanks to them, citizens of these countries study free of charge and under the same conditions as Slovenian citizens.
It depends on the programme you choose, but most programmes do not require it for enrollment.
Regardless, we warmly recommend learning Slovenian to at least A2 level. Studying and living in Slovenia will be considerably easier.
Both carry the same level of education and a VS programme is not worth less than a UN one. VS is not a vocational college programme, it is also studied at a faculty. The difference lies in the goals and nature of the studies.
A university programme (UN) focuses on theory, research and preparation for further academic development. It is the ideal foundation for master's studies. A professional programme (VS) focuses on practical teaching and preparation for the job market.
Full-time studies are free and intended for students who follow the regular schedule of lectures and obligations. Part-time studies are paid and intended primarily for people who already work and want further education or a degree. Lectures are therefore usually held in the late afternoon on weekdays and at weekends.
Yes. You can enroll in a higher vocational college just like a faculty, free of charge and under the same conditions as Slovenian citizens.
There are three enrollment periods, but two are intended for students from the region. Accordingly, there is a first and a second enrollment period for foreign students.
Within the first enrollment period, the process runs from mid-February to mid-July or the end of August. The exact end depends on the university, as each has its own deadline for publishing enrollment results.
Starting with enrollment for the 2026/27 academic year, you can submit an application to every university. Each application can contain up to three choices.
The choices do not have to be from the same faculty, and in one application you can combine programmes from different faculties according to your wishes and priorities.
Student meal vouchers ("študentski boni") are a meal subsidy for students that lowers the price of meals in restaurants across Slovenia.
One voucher is currently worth 5.15 €. That amount is deducted from the meal price and you only pay the difference. A meal with a voucher therefore costs at most 3.81 €, and in some restaurants you can eat for free.
Yes. Slovenia has student work, intended for students who want to combine studies and a job and thus partly or fully finance their studies themselves.
The biggest advantage of student work is flexibility. You are not tied to a long-term contract and you work as many days a week as your lecture schedule allows.
As early as possible. During the free consultation we create your personal plan, so we suggest booking it in time, and no later than a month before enrollment begins.
Yes. The number of installments depends on the chosen package. The bigger the package, the more installments.
